The Good Names Are Gone

The first post on a new blog feels like the writing on the first page of a fresh notebook. You want it to be the neatest, cleanest page in the pad. You might want it to mean something.

It’s the first paragraph in a novel that will never be completed. The first post or page sets the tone and will often be the deciding factor as to whether the reader returns or not. It’s the beginning – an introduction.

A greeting.

So… Hello, my name is Courtney but I’m trying to get people to call me Charli now.

It’s feels like I’m trying to make fetch happen.

I usually wear odd socks, I cut my own hair when I’m bored and it takes me several forks to make scrambled egg because I’m scared of cross contamination. I contradict myself often, I’m opinionated and my mum tells me I have no social filter. I will talk about losing weight halfway through my third slice of pizza and I will get offended if you call me out on my shit.

I believe there are two types of people in this world, those who have peed in the shower and liars. These aren’t my words but I stand by them. Some of my friends have described me as smart due to the fact that I have a relatively extensive vocabulary that I put to use in arguments to make it sound like I know what I’m talking about but if there’s one thing I know, it’s that I know nothing.

And I have so much to learn.

So, I wanted to start again.

Hello, my name is Charli.

I believe in doing what you want and being driven by passion. You can fail at something you don’t enjoy so you lose nothing by pursuing your dreams.

I was going to call this blog IKnowNothing but

The good names are gone.
